Iran president's helicopter crash: Search continues amid tough conditions

TEHRAN, Iran - Rescue teams are still searching for the wreckage of the helicopter carrying Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi, Pir-Hossein Koulivant said.

Earlier reports by Iran's state news agency (IRNA) indicated that a military source believed they had identified the location of the downed helicopter using signals from the plane and a crew member's mobile phone.

However, search efforts in the area have yet to yield any results.


The helicopter went down and the search operation was hampered by severe weather in the remote mountainous area.


 Heavy fog and low visibility made it difficult for crews to locate the crash site.
